“I feel they don’t have enough people taking the time to educate them,” he said.

“There are different avenues to protect their money and make it work harder for them.”

Guadalupe, who four months ago launched Evercare with wife Colleen and business partner David DePaul, offers a comprehensive range of health and life insurance products, as well as options for fixed annuities and senior services such as Medicare supplements.

“We are licensed with several insurance companies, not just one,” said Guadalupe.

“We feel very strongly about offering options.”

“We do a half hour to 45-minute interview in their own home or wherever they wish,” said DePaul.

“We take into consideration everything and we come back with options. We take the time to listen and explain in.”

Both partners have years of experience in the insurance business, expertise they bring to the table when determining how clients can obtain optimum coverage for the least amount of money.

“Many people who tell you they can’t afford life insurance haven’t really looked at options in years,” said Guadalupe.

As an example of how different options can provide more coverage for no additional cost, DePaul described the situation of an older client interested in adding long term care coverage to her $100,000 life insurance policy. As life expectancy rises, do does the problem of paying for care when individuals need help for an extended period.

“The cost of long term care is the number one reason why seniors are forced to declare bankruptcy,” said Depaul.

The woman could not afford any additional premiums, but Evercare was able to exchange her policy for another that provided the same amount of benefits but also allowed her to tap into almost half of the amount if she ever needed long term care.

“She’s not paying any more in premiums, but it gives her that extra cushion,” said Depaul.

“If we can decrease premiums or increase benefits, we are helping the client.”
